Freedom Fit 5k Run!

At SERVPRO of Patchogue, we like to sponsor a lot of events that take place right in our community. This event was a 5k run hosted by the organization LIAT which we sponsored by providing water bottles and orange juice to all the race runners while also running in the race.
LIAT stands for Long Island Against Trafficking, and was founded when a group of individuals were awakened to the realities of human sex trafficking while attending a lecture. The words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" resonated in their hearts and minds. They were compelled to join in the fight for those sex trafficked on Long Island and abroad. Long Island Against Trafficking was established to raise funds for those victimized and raise public awareness of this modern-day form of slavery. They accomplish this by speaking at public and private events as well as lobbying at the local, state, and federal levels. They plan and host fundraisers to aid in financially supporting the victims. They also partner with other human rights organizations to create a powerful collective voice. To date, LIAT has raised more than $750,000 towards the aid of trafficking victims.
This event was an overall great day for all who participated and SERVPRO of Patchogue proudly supports everything that the LIAT stand for and everything they do to make Long Island a better place to be.
