Yaphank Home Has Two Stories of Water Damage
An upstairs bathroom in Yaphank had a toilet backup leaving sewage-tainted water damage seeping from the upper story to the guest bathroom below. The initial signs there was a problem was a thin line of black water on the ceiling as water seeped under the flooring above and ran through the floor joists to the room below. SERVPRO technicians extracted the water above and below and used their moisture detection devices to track the migration path of the water. This type of damage in a home requires special handling as sewage can hold a host of hazards. Any building materials or porous items that absorb it generally require removal. Once the techs removed the damaged sheetrock from the ceiling, they cleaned and disinfected the framework and surfaces to prep them for the needed repairs to restore the bathroom fully.
